Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy explains what cookies AskRank uses, why, and how you can control them.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the website to remember information about your visit, such as your login session or preferences.
We also use localStorage (a browser storage mechanism) for storing your cookie consent choice so we do not show you the banner on every visit.
2. Essential cookies
These cookies are strictly necessary for the service to function. You cannot opt out of them without opting out of the service entirely.
| Name | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| sb-access-token | Authentication session token (GoTrue) | Session / 1 hour |
| sb-refresh-token | Refresh token for session renewal | 60 days |
| askrank_active_brand | Remembers which brand is selected in the dashboard | Session |
These cookies are set by us (first-party) and are httpOnly / Secure where applicable.
3. Analytics cookies (consent required)
These cookies are only activated after you accept via the cookie banner. They help us understand how the product is used so we can improve it.
| Tool | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| PostHog ph_* | Page views, feature usage, session recording (self-hosted on our EU server - no data sent to PostHog cloud) | 12 months |
Until you accept, PostHog runs in memory-only mode and no data is persisted or sent anywhere. We do not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any other advertising tracking.
4. How to manage your consent
Cookie banner
When you first visit AskRank, a cookie banner appears at the bottom of the page. You can accept or reject analytics cookies at that point. Your choice is saved in localStorage under the key askrank_cookie_consent.
To change your choice later, clear your browser's localStorage for askairank.com or clear all site data in your browser settings. The banner will reappear on your next visit.
Browser settings
You can also control cookies through your browser settings. Note that blocking all cookies will prevent essential authentication cookies from working, which means you will not be able to log in. Common browser guides:
5. Updates to this policy
If we add new cookie types or change how existing ones work, we will update this page and, where required, show the consent banner again. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the latest revision.
